A former teacher from a top secondary school was charged in court on Thursday with having sex with an underage boy.

The woman, in her early 30s, allegedly had consensual sex with the boy on the first occasion sometime in January this year.

The prosecution successfully applied for a gag order.

The accused, who is not represented, is likely to face more similar charges.

She will be back in court on Aug 16.

Her police bail of $10,000 has been extended until then.

If convicted, she could be jailed for up to 10 years, fined or jailed and fined.
