SingTel's 3G network down: At least send SMS to inform customers

STOMPer Danny, a SingTel subscriber, has been having trouble with his 3G connection. It started last evening and is still down, said the STOMPer.

Danny wrote (Jan 4):

"Since last evening, I found out that my SingTel mobile 3G service has been having problems connecting to the internet.

"The first thing that came to my mind was, 'Is the phone having problems? The 3G signal is still activated.'

"I waited till today and tried calling the SingTel hotline at 1688.

"The voice operator said: 'Currently some customers are having difficulties accessing the internet, we are currently resolving the issue.'

"We paid the service subscription and with this, as a consumer, we somehow feel that SingTel should somehow send a text massage to inform those affected users."

You think singtel will SMS their customer that their system is down ? You think singtel will SMS us that our GPRS is activated ? First situation, no because somebody in the company is at fault, can't say. Second situation, no because this is extra income to them, why should they informed ? Just on the GPRS for those normal plan, money will go into their account...perfect backup..

Singtel will not lose... 3G down, still got GPRS extra income from those new sign up.. Max charge for each account is $300, just imagine the amount they get. And I'm quite sure 99% from those new sign up for normal plan do not know they have Internet access through GPRS. Just one phrase from singtel, system down, sorry (but we still paying). Never apply for data plan, but GPRS activated... YOU GOT TO PAY !! That's their morale of their business.. Always profitable...
