Hong Kong tabloids speculate that actor Edison Chen, who made headlines with his string of affairs with popular actresses, has contracted AIDS.
About 100 women are rumoured to have rushed to the hospital for check-ups after hearing the news.
There is also speculation that this is the cause of the impending divorce between showbiz couple Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung.
There is, however, no credible evidence that Edison Chen is infected with AIDS. His broker, Gougou, said that he would not respond to the gossips.
Edison Chen himself has also remained silent.
In 2008, Chen was involved in a widely publicised sex scandal where explicit photos of himself and various women became widely circulated on the internet.
The scandal implicated a host of other female Hong Kong celebrities like Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chan, Mandy Chen, Candice Chan and Rachel Ngan.
