So elitist: Express stream student calls Normal stream students 'dumb'

STOMPer Darren says he came across a conversation on facebook where an Express student made insulting comments directed at Normal stream students. He feels that Normal stream students are every bit as capable of succeeding as Express ones in Singapore.

The STOMPer wrote:

"I came across this post in Facebook and I get very annoyed by it.

"Apparently, this guy discriminates against students from different streams.

"He said Express are more capable than those who are from the Normal Academic and Normal Technical.

"However I feel that his beliefs are immature. There are successful people from the Normal stream who do very well in life.

"I feel this is very unacceptable."

Actually everyone is pretty dumb because we have an assessment-book culture rather than an actual learning culture. How smart can an express-student be if he got into express via MASSIVE amounts of assessment-books and extra tuition?

I employed a bunch of people who are smarter than me. Some have Master degrees, Honors degrees, specialise in... My result was normal in my school days.

Express moron to think this way. By the way, I'm very much more sucessful now than many of my schoolmates who were smarter than me academically.

@Nicoole: good that you have acheived something, but i think you should learn some humility and tolerance for people who lack experience. A PHd doesnt warrant you to stereotype and look down on people, especially when you know how it felt like to be stereotyped. Harsh judgement on peoples skills and laughing at them as "jia lat", based on their institution is stereotyping and too much of generalisation. Its abit sad that you sounded more of cold and ruthless as a result of what the society has done to yiu.

NA/NT students are just slower then express. I used to be in NA but hey I passed my O level with flying colors and I'm now trying to pursue my A levels.

@mizunowave actually i don't quite agree with you about the NA/NT students playing a fool of themselves. Firstly not all the students are like that. They are NA and NT students who are also top scorers in class. And after all, most NA and NT students only get their wake up call when they are in ITE?Poly. And chances are that they'll a lot better.

@LOLJiaLE and this post applies the same to you as well. Remember EQ is still way more important then your IQ and your papers. You could have the certs but if you lack social skills then you'll never succeed through an interview.

I am in Express class and I agree you most of you.Express does mean you can go around saying NA/NT is stupid.Attitude and personality is everything.Your moral values.Nevertheless ,its sad to see NA/NT students playing around fooling around as if studies is useless.Next time they will regret.
