STOMPer Eric says this woman was told she would be banned from attending church if she turned up again with 'pants more than two inches above her ankles'. Meanwhile, midriff-baring saris and knee-length skirts are permissible.
The STOMPer wrote:
"This woman wore a Chinese-style samfoo pantsuit to the Church of Saint Anthony in Woodlands recently.
"After Sunday Mass, a warden stopped her and advised her to wear proper clothes, or in future, she would not be allowed into church.
"Apparently, the pants were more than two inches above the ankle. The husband contacted the priest and questioned how the pantsuit 'offended any sensitivities, or outraged anyone’s modesty'.
"The priest's emailed reply read, 'There is no mention of modesty or immodesty. We say it is appropriate for pants to be full length'.
"The husband emails: 'What is the purpose of 'appropriate' clothing – if not for purposes of respect and modesty?', and there is no reply.
"At the same time, knee-length skirts and saris that expose the midriff are deemed ‘appropriate’. The husband also agrees that he finds these okay, but wonders why the samfoo pants suit is not.
"No reply!"

"women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says." - 1 Corinthians 14:34
this is a clear "blinded" case of NOT UNDERSTANDING the application of the spiritual words of God. For a man IS SAVED his faith.
churches are for God's faithful, through faith, to attend and the churches' leaders are just caretaker of them.
Be banned? Maybe the priest is a non-singaporean who never understand the multi-racial and multi-cultural of our country's code - RESPECT!!
change a church is my advice to the couple. this one is more religious than spiritual; like the pharisees, whom Jesus disapproved of their ways of "being seen" as holy yet the inside is uncleaned!!
perhaps it's designed and tailored to such length due to our weather (rainy and humid).
there's no reason to criticize nor bar the wearer at all.
