22-year-old Liu Hong Mei, a factory worker at semi-conductor company Agere Systems, was killed and hacked into seven parts.

The body parts were packed into cardboard boxes and plastic bags and dumped separately into the river near Kallang, Clarke Quay and Parliament House.

Her supervisor, 50-year-old Leong Siew Chor, who was also her lover, has been charged with her murder.

Miss Liu and Leong meet in a Geylang hotel in the morning and have sex.

While Miss Liu is in the shower, it is believed Leong steals her POSB ATM card from her bag, using it three times that day.

14 June 2005

Leong allegedly uses her card to withdraw $960, taking almost $2,000 from her account in all.

Miss Liu makes a police report and complains to her sister and colleague about losing the card.

15 June 2005

Miss Liu, a production operator at Agere Systems in Serangoon North - fails to turn up for work.
