Three young men left their families in Singapore behind to further their education in Australia in the hope of a better life.

Now, none will return home. Just months away from graduating, 26-year-old Tan Chow Lyang and 27-year-old Tony Tan Poh Chuan were killed within hours of each other on 15 September 2003, both bludgeoned and stabbed to death in their rented Apartment in a Sydney suburb.

Their flat-mate, Ram Puneet Tiwary, who was 24 then, claimed to have heard the commotion from inside his bedroom but was too afraid to take any action.

Eight months later, Tiwary was accused of their murders.

Below are highlights from the incident to the final judgement.

VICTIM: Mr Tay Chow Lyang, Mr Tony Tan Poh Chuan
