The prosecution in the Mongolian murder trial scored another point today when more damaging revelations against the two accused policemen were presented in court by a police investigator.
Chief Inspector Koh Fei Cheow told the Shah Alam High Court that suspect Azilah Hadri, 31, showed investigators the skeletal remains of the murdered Ms Altantuya Shaariibbu near a forest clearing where her body was blown up.
The following day, the other suspect, Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, led police to his own home where a watch, a pair of earrings and a ring belonging to Ms Altantuya were found.
If the court accepts the revelations, they could link the two accused directly to the murder.
Chief Inspector Koh said that last Nov 6, Azilah had led a team of policemen to a forest clearing in Puncak Alam, some 20km from here, near where Ms Altantuya was killed.
“When we reached a forest just beside the clearing, the accused said, ‘This was where the Mongolian woman was blown up’.
“He then showed me an open area some 30 feet away and said, ‘This was where the Mongolian woman was shot’.”
This was the first time the trial, heard that Ms Altantuya was shot before her body was blown up.
On the discovery of Ms Altantuya’s belongings, Chief Inspector Koh said they were found in the pocket of Sirul’s black jacket, which was hanging in his wardrobe at home.
Azilah's lead counsel Hazman Ahmad had earlier said that the testimony was incriminating to his client and a special proceeding should be held to determine if the testimony was admissible and made voluntarily.
Judge Mohd Zaki Yasin said he needed to listen to the entire testimony before deciding if a special proceeding would be held.
