A judge ordered the families of Altantuya Shaariibuu and the prominent Malaysian on trial for ordering her murder, Abdul Razak, to be separated yesterday.
The Mongolian beauty's father, Dr Shaariibuu Setev, told judge Mohd Zaki Md Yasin that Abdul Razak's wife, Mrs Mazlinda Makhzan, has been abusing him verbally since the trial started.
She had also hit and kicked him, he said. He is on the witness stand to testify for the prosecution. The incident was said to have occurred when the trial was not in session.
Abdul Razak's wife was not in court when Dr Shaariibuu lodged the protest, but denied his accusations when she was told of them by her husband during the lunch break.
Her daughter, Rowena Abdul Razak, also said the allegations were false. But Justice Mohd Zaki told Abdul Razak's lawyer Wong Khian Keong to tell Mrs Mazlinda to behave. He also instructed lead prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah to separate the families. There are signs that Mrs Mazlinda is beginning to feel the strain of the trial. She has broken down several times over the past few days, and
yesterday, she lashed out at reporters because she felt media reports were not fair to her husband.
